Temporary Tattoos Made with a Permanent Marker

Another way to create your own temporary tattoo at home. Previously, we showed how to make a tattoo using a simple pencil, and in this article, the spotlight is on the regular permanent marker. Create a stencil. You can make professional-looking temporary tattoos using a ready-made stencil rather than relying solely on your drawing skills. Choose the shape of your future tattoo, draw it on paper or cardboard, and cut it out with small scissors. This method is great for creating simple, large shapes. Try a diamond, circle, or other geometric figure. For more detailed tattoos, you can make a stencil from an existing image.

Buy permanent markers. Use one or several colors for your stencil. Black is the best choice if you want the tattoo to look realistic. Other colors add variety. Permanent markers often contain substances harmful to skin since they are not designed for this use. Look for markers that are safe for skin. If you prefer not to use permanent markers, washable markers can also work, though your tattoo won’t last as long. Another good source of ink is stamp ink pads. If you want to use such ink, simply dab a cotton pad in the ink and apply it to the skin through the stencil.

Apply the tattoo. Place the stencil on the part of your body where you want the tattoo. Hold it firmly with one hand so it doesn’t move and color the design with the marker. Then remove the stencil and allow the ink to dry. Make sure the skin is clean and dry before applying. Shave the area if necessary for best results. If you can’t hold the stencil firmly by hand, secure it with tape. You can also try applying the tattoo to a flat part of your body.

Remove the tattoo. When you want to get rid of your temporary tattoo, it’s easy to wash off with soap and warm water. That’s it! Also, check out how to make tattoos with a pencil.
